For retired doctor, Don Cave, keeping on top of his hearing health has meant being able to stay connected to the people and hobbies he loves.
“Having retired from a fulfilling career as an obstetrician/gynaecologist, I am now enjoying spending time walking my two great border collies, reading, woodwork and playing golf,” said Don.
“Getting my hearing back to as near normal as possible through the use of my new hearing aids has highlighted how the gradual loss of my hearing was denying me the pleasure of enjoying so many experiences in life.”
Feeling frustrated after having his hearing assessed by another provider, Don said he greatly appreciated Hear and Say’s “professional, thorough and patient approach”.
“The audiologist took time to carefully explain all aspects of the hearing assessment and the way that my hearing aids work and why she recommended the ones I have.
I especially appreciated that Hear and Say are not bound to one particular manufacturer, so their recommendation is free from commercial exploitation.”
Prior to having his new hearing aids fitted, Don said he had felt he was increasingly unable to fully interact with his loved ones due to his hearing loss.
“I was missing out on so much of conversation with family and friends, and at times felt like an accessory to what was going on around me,” said Don.
“With my new hearing aids, I can now participate more actively in group conversations, watch television without subtitles, and my wife appreciates that I rarely have to ask her to speak louder or repeat herself.”
