Work alongside passionate individuals committed to changing lives for children and adults impacted by hearing loss.
“The best part of my job is being on the hearing journey with the families. I get to know them very well and watch the children grow from babies born deaf to children attending Prep with their friends. There are not many jobs where I would have such wonderful interactions with the families. That is why I have been at Hear and Say for over eight years!”
Tania Kennedy, Business Support
Hear and Say recruits employees for attitude and culture first and foremost and on the basis of merit. Here is a bit of a guide to what recruitment looks like for us.
Before applying we encourage you to:
Your application will be reviewed against the requirements of the role. Depending on the role and size of the candidate pool, this stage may include a preliminary interview (via phone or Zoom) to help out with shortlisting.
Prior to your interview, you will be asked to complete some assessments that will help us understand your unique mix of skills, motivations, and passions.
If you’re shortlisted, you’ll be invited in for a face-to-face or digital interview.
If you’re being considered for the role, we’ll seek your consent to contact your referees. Reference checks will be completed prior to offering you employment.
As a Hear and Say employee you must have a Blue Card (working with children check) and Yellow Card (disability worker screening) or a willingness to obtain these. We may also undertake right to work checks, psychometric, aptitude and other forms of testing.
If successful, you’ll be offered the role verbally, followed by a written offer of employment.
"I’ve had the privilege of working with children with hearing loss and their families since 2003. Watching a child grow, learn and develop, is truly inspirational and makes my job such a pleasure. Children with hearing loss can achieve their dreams and it’s a delight to help them on their journey."
Liza Bowen, Audiologist and Listening and Spoken Language Therapist
We offer flexible work arrangements including reduced hours or part time, hybrid working between the office and home.
Australian tax laws give tax concessions for not-for-profits such as Hear and Say resulting in a higher take home pay. There are certain items or benefits that can be paid for out of your pre-tax salary, reducing your taxable income (e.g. mortgage or rent payments).
Clinicians are provided formal training and mentoring, and every employee is able to undertake approved professional and personal development opportunities.
We’re on the hunt for fun, passionate, collaborative, and motivated team members who are keen to achieve great results for our families, donors and stakeholders.
We’re all about making a difference for the thousands of children and adults with hearing loss.
Drum roll please… we’re excited that the introduction of new and innovative IT system upgrade is on the horizon!
Our culture is centred around caring, belonging, respecting others and celebrating success.
We see lots of little people weaving through our corridors coming to and from their appointments. Their happiness and laughter gives us a sense of achievement at the end of each work day.
We offer flexible working arrangements, free access to Employee Assistance program, social club activities (think Mexican feasts or winter warmer lunches) and a very supportive team environment.
Keep up-to-date with our latest news, information, events and more.
