Almost five years have now passed, but Glenys Rendell clearly remembers her grandson’s wide-eyed face the day his cochlear implants were switched onto sound at Hear and Say.
“It was very special to be there for my grandson, Eddie’s cochlear implant switch on, and I have since watched him grow into the incredible child he is,” said Glenys.
“He has been given the opportunity to truly flourish, and I can’t imagine what he would have missed out on had he not been able to hear and speak.”
Having visited Hear and Say many times in her proud role of grandmother, when Glenys’ hearing aids recently needed replacing, she knew where to turn.
“I had worn hearing aids for several years already, but I was never particularly happy with them especially when having a general conversation or in noisy situations,” said Glenys.
“When my cheeky pup chewed them up on Mother’s Day, I knew I had to contact an audiologist as my hearing loss is significant enough that I really struggle without the aids. I chose Hear and Say because I knew I could be certain of the highest standard there, having witnessed Eddie’s incredible progress with their support.”
Now several months into wearing her new technology, Glenys said she couldn’t imagine life without them.
“I’ve watched TV using subtitles for years, but now with a clever little device streamed via Bluetooth to my phone app from the TV, I can hear all the dialogue,” said Glenys.
“It’s not a cheap investment, but it’s worth it when you consider that you lose your ability to hear properly over time if you don’t hear the sounds, and it’s been immensely helpful in lessening my struggle to keep up in every conversation.
“My new hearing aids are much better because they were fitted to suit my individual needs and type of hearing loss. It’s a pleasure to interact with other people again, and to go out to dinner on the weekend and not struggle to stay ‘in the loop’ anymore.”
